residents in Wilmington protested a proposed homeless shelter on Saturday

-

Wilmington residents fought a proposed homeless shelter on Saturday.

People who live close to this proposed site in the 1300 square of North Avalon Boulevard say that they support lodging for the homeless however they don’t uphold the current proposed area. Residents are requesting that Councilman Joe Buscaino and Mayor Garcetti track down an other area that won’t affect the nature of homes, businesses, schools and parks.

“We have no clue about why they picked this city when there are a few offices in Wilmington previously existing and there’s different properties that we think would be more qualified for what they’re attempting to do,” said Alicia Baltazar.

The meeting was coordinated by the Wilmington Coalition, a grassroots group of residents and community leaders.
