Almost 11% of Los Angeles’ 57,476 city employees have expressed their goal to look for a religious or medical exemption from the city’s command that employees get vaccinated against COVID-19, as per data delivered by the city Tuesday.
About portion of the rate comes from the Los Angeles Police Department, which has 2,651 employees intending to petition for religious exemptions and 368 wanting to petition for medical exemptions.
As per an internal memo shipped off Mayor Eric Garcetti from the city’s personnel department, 2,651 Los Angeles Police Department employees mean to look for religious exemptions and 368 arrangement to look for medical exemptions for the command requiring all city employees to get vaccinated.
In the mean time, the city’s personnel department detailed that the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has 11,643 employees, 30% of which are completely vaccinated. The City of Los Angeles’ Parks and Recreation Department has 38% of employees vaccinated and the Los Angeles Fire Department has 3,712 employees, 34% of which are vaccinated.
The city’s deadline for employees to express their vaccination status and regardless of whether they would look for exemptions was Monday.
“Each city worker is needed to give their vaccine status, and the deadline has passed. Any individual who hasn’t given us that information should do it now,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said Tuesday. ”
This approach considers medical and religious exemptions to secure certain specialists’ wellbeing and established rights, yet let me be totally clear: We won’t tolerate the maltreatment of these exemptions by the individuals who basically don’t have any desire to get vaccinated.”
As per data delivered, just 48% of the city’s more than 57,000 employees are completely vaccinated. Almost 23,000 employees didn’t react to the city’s solicitation for vaccination status, and 5,688 detailed not being vaccinated.
