Filmmaker Juan Munoz Explains How to Create a High-Converting YouTube Videos

-

It is very easy to create a YouTube channel, just sign up and upload videos. However, the difficult part is how to get more views on your videos – especially when you would like to have them monetized. There are a lot of articles available online, but they could be too complicated to follow especially for beginners.

We interviewed the Creative Director and Filmmaker Juan Munoz. He tells his own story on how he was able to make his passion for video editing made him known for having high-converting YouTube Videos.

Hi Juan! It is nice meeting you today. Let us start by asking: How did you start your passion for video editing?

Juan Munoz: I was born in Bogota, Colombia. I am 25 years old and have been film-making and editing for over 13 years now. I moved to Florida when I was 4 years of age and started to get into video editing when I was 12 years old.

You started at a very young age! Given that you are turning into a teenager at that time, did you ever feel discouraged? What did your parents say about your passion for video editing?

JM: I stayed inside countless days just learning how I could become the top video editor on YouTube. I had many nights where I wanted to give up but deep down inside I held up and stayed positive. My parents never really saw the potential in my work until they saw that I was receiving thousands of dollars daily to help build influencers’ Instagram pages through my videography and photography.

When did you finally recognize that your efforts have finally paid off?

JM: At the age of 21, I brought travel video into my editing space. This opened up a whole new world for me as many influencers started to request my editing for their luxury travel videos. I started my own business after I realized that many influencers don’t have too much time on their hands to edit or film.

That’s a great opportunity for you!

JM: This helped me brand myself and create a name for my Instagram Juanmunoztv after every influencer would mention and shout me out for editing or filming their videos. During this moment I was still in school studying to be a creative director.

Did the pandemic affect your business or earnings?

JM: Before the pandemic in 2020 I had built my business and personal brand bringing major credibility through my work. 2020 was the best year of my life and here is how I managed to turn it around at such a crucial time. In 2020 everything moved into an online space so I took advantage of promoting and creating as much video and photo work as possible leveraging my business. In the summer I blew up in followers reaching over 100,000 followers and hitting millions of views through my videos.

After you made that high-converting YouTube video, what more opportunities opened for you?

JM: The big names on Instagram and major businesses that wanted to take everything online “knocked on my door” requesting my services through Instagram Direct messaging and emails. Since we all had to quarantine I spent all of my days filled with client work taking my business to further levels that I couldn’t even imagine. At the end of 2020 and the start of 2021, I was invited to travel in private jets, drive supercars and travel the world for free alongside the top entrepreneurs.

What would you like to say to the readers who wanted to follow your steps as a Creative Director and a Filmmaker?

JM: I’ve always stuck to my passions and never gave up even when times were tough. I have been dreaming of this day to come and now I have everything I’ve always wanted, something that keeps me going is a reminder of how I got started.
