A California-based oil and gas company has been recognized as the wellspring of an oil sheen spotted last week off Bolsa Chica State Beach in Orange County, state officials said.
DCOR, a little company situated in Oxnard, was recognized as the source, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Office of Spill Prevention and Response tweeted Saturday.
“A responsible party has been recognized as DCOR LLC. The sheen was seen nearby their pipeline, (Pipeline 0919), which runs from Platform Eva,” the office said. All stage and pipeline activities in the area have stopped, and authorities are looking for “any signs of extra discharge of oil.”
The size of the sheen has yet to be determined. Divers intend to visit the affected region Tuesday to review the pipeline once the climate improves, authorities said. Samples were collected Wednesday as part of the investigation.
