Anti-Asian hate crimes increased by 76% in Los Angeles County

-

Anti-Asian hate crimes expanded by 76% in Los Angeles County last year, reflecting an upsetting pattern in numerous different wards as physical and boisterous ambushes on Asian Americans rose during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the 44 anti-Asian hate crimes announced in L.A. Region in 2020, more than 3/4 included physical violence — a stamped increment from 58% in 2018, the L.A. County Commission on Human Relations said in a report delivered Wednesday.

In 2019, 25 anti-Asian hate crimes were accounted for.

The data in the report were aggregated from the L.A. District Sheriff’s Department and in excess of 40 city police offices, including Los Angeles’, just as a few school police agencies and community organizations.
