Students in Los Angeles Unified School District will presently be restricted from wearing cloth masks, as indicated by a declaration conveyed Saturday by the district.
Beginning Monday, students should wear “well-fitted, non-cloth masks with a nose wire” consistently, including outside. Region authorities said surgical masks or higher-grade masks were satisfactory, and that such masks would be accessible to students upon request.
“Our in-school [coronavirus infection] rates have dropped however we are proceeding to be tireless and lithe in establishing the safest learning environment,” said Shannon Haber, a representative for LAUSD.
The shift away from fabric masks was incited by guidance from L.A. Province health authorities, Haber said.
