Long Beach has shut its nearby beaches in the wake of getting word Thursday that 2 to 4 million gallons of untreated sewage was released into the Dominguez Channel.
The sewage spill happened in the city of Carson and was brought about by the disappointment of a 48-inch sewer primary line, the California Office of Emergency Services detailed.
The Dominguez Channel streams into the Los Angeles Harbor at the Port of Los Angeles.
A water-quality inspection team will screen the impacted ocean side destinations and all swimming regions will be shut until the water quality meets state necessities, the city of Long Beach expressed in a news discharge.
Long Beach has around 7 miles of public ocean side, where water tests are tried regularly for public safety.
